Most of my time is spent in the office, either:
1. Working on my foosball and pool skills
2. Gatecrashing farewell parties for people I have not met (today's rewards are Mr. Riesling, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and finger food)
3. And of course, work.
While browsing through some pictures, I was reminded of some recent pictures I took, so why not share em
'twas a bright clear sunny weekend, the whole lot of us bumped into this street performer.
I'll leave you to guess how he ended up in this position.
Out of curiosity (and lack of anything better to do), I decided to visit Wellington's Te Papa Museum which was right next to where the street performer was fooling around with his balls. I'm kinda glad that I stepped into this Museum as it was more interesting than I thought it would be. Not the boring type at all. It was packed with people on a Saturday afternoon, with so much to explore and so much interactivity in place to keep you occupied for the whole day.
I didn't have the whole day so I visited the closest exhibition there was. The closest one turned out to be Te Papa's golden child.
What's all the fuss about?
From this position, it looks like an alien specimen from Independence Day
If you haven't guessed already, it's the Colossal Squid! I had no idea that it was in Wellington all along. I watched the documentary about it a while back, and I neglected the fact that the largest known specimen of the Colossal Squid was defrosted and dissected at this very museum.
More pics? sure.
Wasn't able to take good pictures of the squid because of the lighting conditions (and more so because I'm a lousy photographer). I estimated that the specimen currently measured about 4 meters (more than twice my height), but it was initially measured at about 10 meters during the time of capture (wikipedia has everything you wanna know about it).
Here are some extra pictures that I took of the smaller colossal squid beak and eyeballs (the reason why I said smaller is because I don't think it belonged to the main exhibit, but of another smaller squid they captured).
Well, I'll need to reserve another day to complete the whole museum tour. There are even motion master rides that you can go to (comes with an entry fee). Maybe next time.
There is one ride that's free though - the earthquake simulator haha. Final pic of the day :)
